Once you arrive, a final in-person consultation will confirm all details, and you’ll receive clear pre-operative instructions to prepare for the procedure. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity. The procedure usually takes 1-2 hours. For the upper eyelids, the surgeon makes incisions along the natural creases to remove excess skin, fat, and muscle. For the lower eyelids, an incision is made just below the lash line or inside the eyelid to remove or reposition fat and tighten skin. The incisions are closed with fine sutures to minimize scarring. Post-surgery, you may experience mild swelling, bruising, or discomfort around the eyes, which typically subsides within a few days. Cold compresses and prescribed medications can help alleviate these symptoms. You’ll be given detailed aftercare instructions and attend follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery. Most patients can return to light activities within 5-7 days. Bruising and swelling typically resolve within 1-2 weeks. Full recovery, including the fading of scars, can take a few months.
